Magnus had gone out to select the best Candlenights tree he could find to share the holiday with Octavia.

"Man, fruitcake aren't really what i was hoping for as a fun fight," he grumbled, hefting the tree up over his shoulder. His big, buff, beefy boy shoulder. "Octavia! I really hope you're home..."

Oh, he really should have checked that first.

Octavia was rarely prepared for whatever she would find behind the Blakes' door whenever she heard Magnus calling for her.

Apparently today was no exception!

"... What."

[magnusrushesin]

"Happy Candlenights!" He beamed, posing a little like some kind of stereotypical woodsman.

[okteiviakom]

It was too bad Octavia had so little experience with woodsmen, stereotypical or not. There was still something about it that made her look faintly amused.

Also maybe a little fond. If you knew how to look.

"Happy Candlenights," she replied. "That's a tree, Magnus."

"Yeah, a Candlenights tree." That helped ease her confusion, right?

Sort of? Not entirely.

"Is it... going inside the apartment?"

[magnusrushesin]

"Yeah! And then we decorate it." Did he forget to bring any decorations? Yeeep.

Octavia hadn't made it far enough in that thought process yet to wonder whether he'd brought any decorations or not. But she did step back from the door, opening it further.

"Okay."

She'd said she'd take part in his holiday, and he was the expert. Just this once.

"Yes," he said, pumping his free hand in the air.

Octavia snorted, and waved him in.

With his tree. It'd probably fit okay somewhere by the couch. It wasn't as if the Blakes had a ton of furniture taking up space.

[magnusrushesin]

"...I super need to make you more stuff." And he really would too.

[okteiviakom]

"You really don't."

She kept telling him that. She also never thought he'd listen to her when she did.

[magnusrushesin]

"Why not? I make a real tight chair!" Won awards and everything.

[okteiviakom]

"Because we don't need any?"

They already had two chairs, for two people!

[magnusrushesin]

Magnus looked around again. "You suuure?"

[okteiviakom]

"I'm sure."

She was really bad at owning things. Or building a home.

[magnusrushesin]

"Okay," Magnus said in a way that somehow conveyed disbelief and the fact that a couple pieces of furniture might show up in the near future.

"Mm-hmm," Octavia hummed in response, sounding like she had her suspicions about his 'okay'. But she wouldn't air them right now. "So. We have a tree. What else?"

[magnusrushesin]

Because it was a fight she would lose!

"So, we get it set up and we put stuff on it to decorate!"

Again, no decorations on him.

Octavia nodded.

"Stuff like what?"

[magnusrushesin]

"Candles, but like fake ones so nothing catches on fire." So, Christmas lights.

[okteiviakom]

"And did you bring any with you?" Octavia prompted. "Because we don't have anything like that."

[magnusrushesin]

"...shit. Do you know any transmutation magic?" Magnus, no.

[okteiviakom]

"Do you think I know any?"

That sounded very unimpressed.

[magnusrushesin]

"You could be multi-classing!" There was even a wild magic barbarian subclass put there now.

[okteiviakom]

"I'm not."

She was pretty sure, anyway.

"So I'm guessing we don't have lights for the tree."
